Encounter

Encounter

God is not just watching us “from a distance.” His plan always has been, and always will be, to have an intimate relationship with us, his Creation. This incredible Journey of Intimacy, with the God of the Universe, starts with a personal encounter of Salvation through His son Jesus, accepting His forgiveness, grace, mercy and power.

Many in this world “Believe” in God, but few have truly ENCOUNTERED Him personally; and built their lives on the solid foundations of the word. In Acts 2:36-41; The Apostle Peter clearly lays out some vital foundations for the early Church.

The key foundations every believer needs in their lives are:

  1. Understanding and living under the LORDSHIP of Christ
  2. Understanding what true REPENTANCE is and learning to live a lifestyle of repentance (Which literally means "to change the way you think")
  3. Be BAPTISED IN WATER; understanding the true biblical significance of this act so that it is an act of Faith, not just a tradition or ceremony.
  4. Receive the BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT to empower you to be a witness for Christ.
  5. Be ADDED to a local church where you can be a functioning member and grow in your walk with the Lord & other believers.

Our primary tool for training in these vital foundations is the “ENCOUNTER” booklet; a short, but powerful, series of teachings to lay these Firm Foundations to give a solid start to your walk with God.
(AVAILABLE at the ENCOUNTER table in the Parktown Auditorium)

Once you have worked through the Encounter booklet; and received the Baptism of water and the Holy Spirit, the next vital step should be to join a “Victory Weekend”: A powerful 2 day course to assist in breaking free from past wounds and curses; faulty thinking patterns and habits – Equipping believers to walk in freedom and victory in all areas of their lives.

Just as a newborn baby needs a supportive family – the next vital steps in your journey, to get connected in this family, would be:

  • Go through our New Member’s class to get to know our church; our vision, values and mission.
  • Most importantly, get into one of our “Connect Groups”, smaller gatherings of believers scattered around the city where you can build relationships and grow further.
