Our Faith journey
Encountering God, Connecting People, Growing Strong, Reaching Out, Influencing Life
Introduction
HP-Joburg is built upon seven Biblical core values: Lordship, Evangelism, Discipleship, Family, and Leadership, and being Multi-Cultural and Multi-generational. These values define who we are and what we prize. Upon this foundation we now build our 'Faith Journey'. We have identified different stages of growth and development in the life of our valuable members. We want to point you towards these different signposts on your 'Faith Journey' in order to inspire you onwards in God. These indicators speak to your vital relationship with God, address the necessity of being relationally connected to God's people, encourage you to grow and develop as a Christian, exhort you to reach out to disciple new believers and share God's love with the lost and inspire you to change the world in your sphere of influence.

This speaks of a face to face relationship with God Almighty. Do you know the joy of forgiveness and the power of His cleansing blood? Has your encounter with Christ radically altered the way you live? Being born–again is the start of the journey. This experience should be followed by baptism in water and receiving the empowering baptism in the Holy Spirit. Victory Weekends are designed to enforce the victory of the cross in areas where you have been bound and captive.

The early church fathers said that every Christian needs 'God as their Father and the church as their mother'. They said this as they were utterly convinced that Christianity is not lived in isolation or loose association but in vital, close relationship with other Christians. Connect groups are critical to the life of believers and the health of our church. We urge you to join one of these small groups, where you will experience the life, growth and care that exists when serious Christians prioritise meeting with each other.

We see people at HP growing, developing and maturing as Christians. We grow as we read and obey God's Word. The 'Purple Book' is a great tool to help you lay strong foundations. There are also various other modules and opportunities available for you to grow in your relationship with God and others. Being generous and sacrificial with your time, talents and treasures is a true indicator of your growth as a follower of Christ.

This area involves us stretching beyond ourselves. One domain where we do this is in discipling younger believers. A mature Christian has concern that others are established and firmly rooted in their faith. He/she acts as a mentor and growth agent, helping others identify opportunities to grow and develop in faith, life, leadership and their God-given gifts and talents. "Reach" also means we extend ourselves out of our comfort zones as we endeavour to befriend and reach those who do not know Jesus as Lord and Saviour. It is Christ's heart for people that compels us to take His priceless message of grace and forgiveness to a lost and dying world.

Believers are the agents through which God flavours the world. We are called to affect our world, and to change and alter the course of history by ushering His Kingdom into our homes, neighbourhoods, schools, campuses and places of service and work.
