Child Haven

CHILD HAVEN (Roodepoort) serves 13 children ages 3 – 10 of Johannesburg’s West Rand, often from extreme poverty, often from families affected by the HIV/AIDS crisis and sometimes having suffered neglect, abuse or abandonment. At Child Haven, our goal is to help children in crisis regain the joy and security of childhood.

Our logo is an image of three children lifting their hands in joy in a place of freedom and warmth.

House Mother Amy Golden has headed up this project since its opening in December 2007, along with assistant Housemom Anna Kabengele, and a staff that includes many volunteers as well as permanent staff. A generous HP family bought this home for the Child Haven project.

Document Actions

Most of these children are in long-term care and will probably grow-up in Child Haven. Last year, however, we celebrated a first adoption as the oldest child went to live with her “forever family.”
